Hey guys! I’m finally getting around to sharing about our honeymoon. We were gone for 12 days and went to Santorini, Mykonos, and Athens. It was incredible and definitely the best trip we’ve ever been on! We absolutely fell in love with Oia in Santorini, which was our favorite part of the trip. I’m sharing all of the details below - where we stayed, where we ate, what we did, and more. ENJOY!


Tuesday October 16:

We flew into Santorini and took a cab from the airport to our hotel, Canaves Oia Suites. We stayed in the infinity pool suite and I’ve never seen a more beautiful hotel room and view in my life! I would HIGHLY recommend Canaves - the staff and service was incredible, the room was perfect, and the food was amazing. Breakfast each day was included in the room and we enjoyed it on our patio by the pool almost every morning. Back to when we arrived - we grabbed welcome drinks (white sangria) and lunch at the hotel’s restaurant, Petra, then spent the afternoon by the pool. We napped and woke up right in time for sunset - the sunsets in Oia are breathtaking! We walked along the pedestrian through town to the main square and had dinner at Fino - a really cute, cozy spot with delicious pasta and seafood.

Wednesday October 17:

We had breakfast on our patio - volcano eggs, French toast with Nutella, truffle eggs, Greek yogurt with granola, honey, & fruit, croissants & coffee - all so delicious. Later in the afternoon we walked around and had lunch at Thalami, overlooking the cliffs and ocean. They had the BEST ‘feta from the oven’ - one of our favorite dishes we had the entire trip! After lunch, we went to the Kissing Fish, a foot spa where the fish suck on your feet - such a weird but somehow soothing experience, and the fish truly did exfoliate and moisturize our feet. That night we had dinner at King Neptune, a short walk from the hotel.

Thursday October 18:

We had breakfast on our patio again, spent the morning by the pool, and then had lunch at Melitini - a recommendation we’d received - and it was delicious! We had a variety of spreads (beets, spicy feta, eggplant, tzatziki), olives, green salad, & grilled cheese with fresh herbs. We also tried ouzo, a black licorice aperitif, for the first time. After lunch we grabbed gelato at a popular spot, Lolita’s. That night we stumbled upon a tucked away place called 1800-Floga for dinner - it was so cozy, the most beautiful view, & one of the best meals we had - fried calamari, mushroom risotto (with truffle oil) & ravioli.

Friday October 19:

We ate breakfast down by the hotel pool and they had a buffet with pastries, Greek yogurt, sausage and bacon, coffee, and more. After breakfast, we went to the Canaves Spa & both got lava shell massages, which were incredible. Later that afternoon we got picked up by the hotel and driven down to Ammoudi Bay to get on a catamaran for a sailing cruise with Sunset Oia. The cruise went to the hot springs first (Tristan jumped in & it was chilly), then a red beach & a white beach. We eventually anchored and they grilled chicken and pork, served with Greek salad, pasta, stuffed grape leaves, tzatziki, potato salad, feta, & shrimp saganaki. We watched the sunset near the Bay before returning to land & riding back to the hotel.

Saturday October 20:

We woke up really early for sunrise and walked across town to take in the view from the other side of Oia. We came back, got ready, and went to Petrosia for brunch - delicious. We spent the afternoon shopping and by the pool then had dinner at Ambrosia right at sunset. This was a fancier spot and I had truffle & shrimp risotto & Tristan had lobster fettuccine - one of our favorite meals as well.


Sunday October 21:

We had one last breakfast in our room, packed, and drove to the port (40 min away) to get on the ferry to Mykonos. We took a Seajets ferry to Mykonos, almost 3 hours. When we arrived, the hotel sent a driver to pick us up and it was only a 10 minute drive to our hotel, Myconian Korali. They gave us a tour and we checked into our room, a junior suite with private pool and hot tub with a view of the ocean and windmills. It was a super modern, unique room. We weren’t aware but the season ends in September in Mykonos and everything closes so our hotel was actually closing the day before we were supposed to leave (Thurs 10/25). We decided to check out that day and go to Athens a day early. Due to it being towards the end of the season, a lot of places were closed and it was extremely chilly and windy. The first night we had dinner at the hotel restaurant, hung out in the hot tub, and watched the sunset.

Monday October 22:

We went to the hotel buffet for breakfast which was a spread of croissants, a million types of granola and dried fruit with Greek yogurt, honeycomb, eggs, bacon, and more. Once we got ready, we walked down to old Mykonos Town, about 10 minutes. No cars are allowed in the town and we got lost wandering the streets for hours. We stopped at the cutest cafe, Hibiscus, for coffee. We ate lunch at Mamalouka, a super adorable restaurant with outdoor seating - we had pan fried feta, oysters with truffle oil, and chicken souvlaki, and it was all delicious. After lunch we walked down by the water, stopped for another coffee at ANOTHER cute spot, Salt & Sugar. We headed back to the hotel for a nap before dinner. We went back to town and had dinner at Kostas Restaurant (pretty good) and gelato from Trio Bambini (wouldn’t recommend).

Tuesday October 23:

We had breakfast at the hotel buffet, got ready and walked to town. We went straight to Little Venice and had cappuccinos at Katerina’s. We shopped in the cute shops - our favorite being Anapolo, a super adorable & unique shop. We ate lunch at Casa di Giorgio - pizza and pasta. We grabbed ice cream at Hibiscus on the way back to the hotel, had drinks and appetizers by the hotel pool, and then a complimentary dinner at the hotel that evening.

Wednesday October 24:

We had breakfast at the hotel, walked to town, and rented a Smart car for the day. We drove to Ornos Beach (one of the only ones still open after the end of the season), and ate lunch at Kostantis on the beach. After that we drove to Ano Mera, a little village about 15 minutes inland, and grabbed a coffee in the town square at Cafe Ouzeri. We drove around the island exploring the beaches and port and then went back to the hotel to rest before dinner. That evening we walked to the famous windmills right at sunset and it was such a stunning view. We walked down to Little Venice from the windmills and had dinner at one of the restaurants on the water (can’t remember the name).



We flew from the Mykonos Airport to Athens (45 minutes), grabbed a taxi, and went to our hotel, Hotel Grande Bretagne, in Syntagma Square. We went up to the hotel rooftop for lunch. We slept the rest of the afternoon and night because we were exhausted from the early flight, jet lag, and in preparation for our last full day.


We got up early and headed to the Acropolis and Parthenon. We walked all the way up to the top and explored the amazing historic sites. After that we headed over to the Acropolis Museum then walked around Athens, exploring the shops and squares. We had drinks at A for Athens rooftop, which had an awesome view but was super crowded and had bad service. We had chicken gyros at Quick Pitta for lunch and it was super yummy. After lunch we went to the Panathenaic Stadium, the site of the first Olympic games, which pretty cool. We ordered room service for dinner.

Our flight back to Charlotte was early Saturday morning - 10.5 hours long - and it took us over a week to recover from the jet lag, haha! Overall, we were really glad we got to see Mykonos and loved the old town, but would love to go back during peak season. We enjoyed taking in the history of Athens but probably wouldn’t go back. Our favorite was Oia, Santorini, and we are dreaming of the day we get to go back there! I would definitely recommend going to Santorini during October because there were hardly any crowds and the weather was still beautiful.
